Plinius, Epistulae X 119

The answer of Trajan on a letter of Plinius :

Trajan to Plinius,
In my opinion a triumphant entry is due only from the moment that the victor makes his entry in his hometown. No retroactive rewards are due for games which I have been pleased to make “with triumphant entry" if they were not with triumphant entry before. And the athletes cannot use as an argument that they stopped receiving rewards for games, which I decided to be no longer with triumphant entry after their victory. Indeed, though the status of those contests is changed, they are not asked to refund what they had already received.
