Flavius Josephus, Antiquitates Judaicai XII 241

The Jewish high-priest Jason introduced around 175 BC Greek customs in Jerusalem. He asked for example permission to king Antioch to build a gymnasion.

They asked his permission to build a gymnasion in Jerusalem. After he had them permission, they also hid the circumcision of their genitals, that even without clothes they would look like Greeks. They neglected all their other ancestral customs and imitates those of the other peoples.
